  • Housing promotion programme - modernisation of rented housing
    This programme supports investment measures in rented residential buildings that increase the residential value, enable energy savings or reduce barriers. Eligible measures include the installation of heat pumps, solar systems and biogas plants as well as structural measures to improve energy efficiency. The subsidy can amount to up to 80 % of the eligible costs, with a maximum amount of EUR 70,000 per dwelling. For barrier-free measures, the maximum amount can rise to EUR 85,000.

Eligibility criteria and conditions

  • The funding is aimed at sponsors of investment measures that fulfil the requirements of social housing promotion in Saarland.
  • The subsidy is offered in the form of a low-interest loan with attractive conditions. The interest rate is 0.5% per annum for the first 10 years and 1.50% per annum for the remaining term of the loan.
  • Repayment subsidies of 10% for barrier reduction and 20% for extension of the rent and occupancy commitment to 20 years are granted.
  • Personal contributions are required, the amount of which depends on the total cost of the project.
  • Applications must be submitted to Saarländische Investitionskreditbank AG (SIKB) before construction begins.
